PRRS testing with the field question kept in view
PRRS can appear through reproductive, respiratory or mixed herd problems. A useful laboratory request starts with a clear objective. High Hope Vet helps veterinary teams define the qPCR question, select an appropriate submission plan and receive results through a documented workflow.
When PRRS qPCR may be considered
- Investigation of reproductive or respiratory concerns in a swine herd.
- Monitoring designed by the farm veterinarian or production team.
- Follow-up within a broader herd-health or stabilization plan.
- Testing alongside other pathogens when signs are not specific to PRRS.
PRRS assays and pricing
Four PRRSV qPCR options cover general and highly pathogenic strain screening plus NA/EU differentiation and a four-way lineage typing panel. Prices are per sample in Philippine pesos.
| No. | Assay | Nucleic acid | Price (₱) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 07 | PRRSV General Detection (PRRSV-General) | RNA | 1,800 |
| 08 | Highly Pathogenic PRRSV Detection (HP-PRRSV) | RNA | 1,800 |
| 09 | PRRSV NA/EU Strain Differentiation | RNA | 2,500 |
| 10 | PRRSV NA/HP/NADC30-like/NADC34-like Quad Panel | RNA | 2,500 |

Build a useful submission
- Describe the affected group, age, signs, timing and herd context.
- State whether the objective is investigation, monitoring or follow-up.
- Confirm specimens and group representation before collection.
- Package, identify and transport samples under the agreed conditions.
A qPCR result is one part of the veterinary picture. Clinical findings, herd history, vaccination, epidemiology, timing and sample quality remain important. Reports are for private veterinary decision support, not regulatory certification.
Common questions
Do you serve PRRS testing requests from Manila?
Yes. We support clients coordinating samples from Metro Manila and other regions of the Philippines. Contact the laboratory before dispatch.
Can PRRS be tested with other swine pathogens?
The testing scope can be discussed around the clinical pattern. A broader swine diagnostic plan may be more useful when signs have several possible causes.
Does qPCR alone explain herd performance?
No. The result should be considered with sampling time, animal groups, herd history, clinical findings and veterinary interpretation.
